Cameroon - Fight against Boko Haram : Fourth Joint Military Region : MINDEF revisits the security system

In order to thwart the fluctuating, particularly aggressive and treacherous strategy of the Islamic nebulous sect Boko Haram, which still intends to mount its caliphate on the borders of the Lake Chad Basin, a mission fully led by the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence, on high instructions of the Head of State, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces took place from July 28 to 29, 2021 in the 4th Joint Military Region.

This visit comes a day after the attacks of Saturday July 24 and Monday July 26, 2021, respectively in the towns of Sagme and Zigue, which caused the death of several people amongst whom were civilians and personnel of the Defence and Security Forces.

The protection of the population, the preservation of the territorial integrity of Cameroon are the primary objectives of the reorganisation of the deployment of the Defence and Security Forces prescribed by the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence to deal with the barbarian gangs, which surge nocturnally on the Cameroonian positions located along the border areas with neighbouring Nigeria.

National resilience and the union of the Army-Nation bondshould be better understood in the new processes to be immediately implemented to unite or even strengthen the existing security on the ground.

Operational managers in the field coming from the 4th Joint Military Region to the borders of Lake Chad, of national affiliation or of extraction from the Multinational Joint Task Forces (FMM) of the Lake Chad Basin Commission (LCBC) including the First Sector based in Mora, in the Cameroonian territory, have agreed on new strategies and operational commitments, which will be translated into concrete actions on the ground.

The offensive is now ofrigidity, both sides having to transcend all other considerations to resolutely commit to 500% in the implementation of the reorientation prescribed by the High Command. It is with the completely boosted morale of the troops that MINDEF ended his stay in the RMIA 4.

In the nearest future difficult days awaits the enemy.
