Honor and loyalty : A world between troubled peace and hot war, Africa still standing
Economic, security, health, food and diplomatic crises; migration crisis, socio-political crisis, environmental crisis, … And the list continuesto grow according to the ambitions, claims, aspirations, and above all, according to the vindictive dissatisfaction of powerful interest groups who compete for global marketshares, finance, armament, among others.
A little more than twenty years ago, however, the world revelled in a comfort zone supported by eternal peace, dreams of individual fulfilment, equality among nations, and prosperity for all.
It is all butobvious today thatthe so-called cold war and its bloc rivalries had sustainably developed mindsets, in any case sufficiently enough to leave in ourmemories, the stigma of past resentments, and so many seeds of a possible resurgence.
Thus, by following in the footsteps of those warned to take September 11, 2001 as the tipping point from the then troubled peace to the increasingly hot war of today, it is clear that the world is no longer offering itself any respite, in any area. With the enemy devisingcountlessstrategies adapted to every circumstance, the denigration of the opposite camp and the claim to universalist virtue are harbingers of hostile actions in the making. The cataclysm that frightens sensitive souls so much can still be avoided. And in all this,Africa has stood her ground.
Like other States of the world, Cameroon experiences and undergoes these speedyflashes of recurrentupheavals generated and maintained by the global hegemonic clash in which the major players on the international scene are engaged, through ideologically, intellectually and culturally conditioned back rooms.
So far, our country has succeeded in blockingmedia campaigns aimed at disconnecting the people from their leaders. We can recall that with limited resources and a lot of discipline, we Cameroonians managed to contain and maintain at remarkably low levels the rate of spread of the BOKO HARAM fundamentalist scourge in our society. With the same ingredients to which we added patriotism, we have managed to resist the temptation of colour revolutions, the recurrent nature of which is, moreover, unknown to the tropical climate in which we live.
On the same bases, we will neither yield to fundamentalist and separatist terrorisms nor to the coronavirus pandemic, even though heralded as the cause of our demographic decline. Forat a time when a simple face mask became a strategic survival factoron an international scale, just a little ingenuity on our part made the difference. And subsequent events proved us right.
Thus, as accustomed as we are to pulling through, we cannot afford to let ourselves be caught off guard by injunctions that seem to reproach our leaders, for remaining attentive to the people. In these times of artificial global rise in the cost of living, a situation planned, programmed and implemented by a bunch of corrupt minds, it is up to us to remain united. This is the best way to preserve our sovereignty, unity and peace!
