Cameroon - Army : EMIA 38th batch of Cadet Officers : Real warriors and lovers of the Fatherland

"Warriors forged in the mould of Strength and Honour, men of peace born under the banner of Peace and Unity. This is the description of the 38th batch of cadet officers from the Yaoundé Combined Services Military Academy after their epaulette award ceremony on Friday, February 26, 2021.

These girls and boys from all strata of our society and now young officers of the Cameroon Army, originate from all the administrative regions of our country. Each of them having left their own regions to join under the banner of the Republic, on the demand of shared noble ideal; the security of the territory and the well-being of their compatriots, an idea which is situated well beyond the attachment to the land of their biological fathers.

Throughout the training, they became seasoned in aggressive tactics and caution in handling weapons. The inevitable and indispensable emotion in the face of dangers, the wanderings through the forest, mountainous and Sahelian areas of Cameroon, will have helped them to aggregate their ethno-cultural diversities, to the point of making them an unbreakable cement of solidarity. For the peace of this country, for the unity and freedom of its people, they have learned to make the impossible, possible.

Whereas, their intellectual baggage well qualified them for less restrictive and more lucrative professions. Rather than the facilities and conveniences of a career in the offices of the civilian world, they have preferred the constantly renewed harshness of the profession of a soldier, subject to the unpredictability of the enemy, to earth movements, to the abruptness of bad weather, without quitting and without none of these hazards serving as an excuse for some tiny variation in the course of mission.

By accepting the challenges of a training which is far from having come to an end, by predisposing selves to the vicissitudes of a career of servitude, and perfectly aware of the probability of self-sacrifice, our leaders of men now on the field of action, are examples to the youth, as energetic although sober patriots, humanists, ready to push altruism till total abnegation, builders animated by a spirit of innovation.

Quite the opposite to counter-models proposed by the empty rantings of an artful, cowardly and essentially rowdy activism.

At a time when human relations more and more marked by superficiality favoured by new horizons is fading, our young officers, courageous warriors, remain men who flourish in the joyous effusions of fraternity, far from the selfish pleasures of excess and materialistic individualism.

Alongside their brothers in arms of all ranks, our young officers from the 'Peace and Unity' Batch of the Combined Services Military Academy, will now experience the strength of their commitment, in continuation to their mission of building Cameroon.

Good luck to these proud and joyful youths, Good luck to these committed youths, Good luck to these determined youths, Good luck to peace and unity under the blessed skies of Cameroon".
