Cameroon Army : Honor and Loyalty : Development of Africa : a stake for powers
“We are a great country: one people, one nation, one prosperous future. Do not be afraid of the future. Together, we will succeed and become an emergent nation”. In other words, we are a great country, a people, a nation with a prosperous future. Let us not be afraid of the future. Together we will succeed and become an emerging nation. This is an extract from the speech delivered by the President of the Republic, His Excellency Paul Biya, during the fiftieth anniversary of the Cameroon Defence Forces celebrated on Thursday, December 9, 2010 in Bamenda.
Ten years since the Iron Curtain collapsed under the irresistible assaults of peoples in search of greater freedom. The world was at the dawn of a new era that was expected to be more egalitarian in international relations, a more equitable era in trading, in particular a just remuneration for raw materials and other speculative productions from developing countries.
Instead of a voluntary multipolarity driven by globalization, we have witnessed and continue to witness a recomposition of spheres of influence on virtually all continents. The ruthless competition for the grabbing of resources and market share has started all over again. It brings together the formerly established or returning power-states, and the states that have reached the threshold of power, still qualified as emerging powers. They all use methods such as pressure, infiltration and even allusion to each strengthen their geostrategically anchoring points.
In this context of heightened lusts and attempts to muzzle wills, it is very likely that Cameroon's ambitious aspiration to achieve emergence was taken by some as a real declaration of war likely to upset the pursuit of their goals. In any case, in less than no time, our country found itself caught between fundamentalist fear in the northern part of its regions and the dramatic separatist tendencies in its western portion.
Carried on both sides by a narrative that goes against both religious dogmas and the history of our country, the disintegration project seeks to instill a feeling of distrust and collective despair towards the respect of our pillars, which are the unity of our people, belonging to the same nation, and our community of destiny.
This future full of ambush that the President of the Republic encouraged us to face with daring and recklessness we are already living it. It would have been catastrophic if we had not shown lucidity, strength, courage, solidarity and above all love for the fatherland. However, this present future will be fatal to us if we listen and flank the all-out sordid shenanigans coming from predatory partners who do not wish us all good.
To stand firm as a rock in the face of challenges that present themselves, more than ever, unity is strength. It is by remaining united that we will put on the springboard of development, this Cameroon, which will rise only through the concerted effort of all. Moreover, if reaching the emergence point can lead us to the threshold of power, then let us not be afraid to dare. We will only owe it to ourselves.Together, we are stronger!
